I was wrong.. let me explain | birthday trip | travel diary

I’m back in Los Angeles and I am a sack of lazy bones, honey child. Whew! It’s 2 o’clock in the afternoon and I am only now getting out of the bed. Mind you, my eyes have been open since 7am. Maybe my body wasn’t ready for that 14-mile walk/hike yesterday.

Quickly typing this, in case you’ve clicked on the link in my Instagram bio or you’re back checking from the initial newsletter I sent out, to let you know that more content is coming soon. I’m so anal and I don’t want to throw any ol’ thing up here — I like to let the words fall into my spirit and then mold them into careful writing. I need to be a little less that way. So, hey! Looka here, that’s what this quickie is…

Popping in to let you know that I’ll be answering all of your questions, including…

  • How much did it cost?

  • When did you start planning this?

  • What are some must see sights?

  • What made you go?

  • What made you stay as long as you did?

  • Do you think it’s better to go during the winter months ?

  • Where did you stay?

  • What was the price range for the trip?

  • Do you think it’s a great place to bring a kid?

Right now, let me quickly answer the one that every single person asked, no exaggeration, I had to be asked this question about 43 times…

Who are you with? …Wait, did you go alone?!

Yes, I traveled to Africa all by my little lonesome!

I’ll go into further detail about solo female travel in another post.

What happened to doing a daily entry into this travel diary?

I didn’t change my mind about writing in my travel diary, I simply was a bit overly ambitious.

I was thinking I would come back to my suite each day and write, but because I am so anal, when I would do that, it kept me up until sunrise, which didn’t help my body adjust to the totally different time zone (don’t click that; it’s scientific research saying that adjusting to a different time zone “can take up to one day for every hour the clock is shifted, resulting in several days of fatigue and discombobulation” .. I had to look it up to know I wasn’t crazy, or just plain lazy. I was NINE time zones away, with a body very resistant to change, so I was basically screwed the majority of my stay).

During the day in Morocco, I had to keep myself up and moving, or interacting with people to not feel drowsy (because it was nighttime in California). If I were to try to sit comfortably and write, my face would meet my keyboard.

Then, there was no strict schedule for this trip to Morocco; I simply allowed plans to flow freely. I flowed right into the desert (in the South of Morocco) for 3 days and left my computer at my hotel in Casablanca. (Yes, I was paying for 3 places to stay concurrently). Then when I returned to the big city, after my amazing time in the desert, my trip was winding down. I couldn’t get right… to write. A mess. Yet, a beauty. It was beautiful mess.

Right now, I’m about to go take a walk and enjoy this cool Los Angeles “winter” weather. Hopefully, I’ll be moved to write when I return.

See, I don’t know how to do anything quickly.. you know how I said I started this around 2pm? It was supposed to be a quick, 5-sentence check-in, taking all of 5 minutes.. But no, it’s now approaching 3 o’clock. Ugh! I really need to practice writing everyday to get quicker.

Okay, later, lovelies! ♥
