quickie at a cafe

Ou, I stumbled into a new little plant-based cafe today and it has been lovely. They’ll be closing up in less than an hour, so I figured I’d finally open a writing draft page and get to it since I’ve been here for five hours now. [melting face]

Okay, listen, I got started, I did. Well, I almost did. I pulled my computer out of my bag, opened it up and may have even navigated to the webhosting site where I’ve been doing my daily life writing all week. Then, I realized that I hadn’t checked my email inbox yet this morning, and to get these gigs, a girl has got to be on it!

(While I was meaning to be talking about a business idea that came to me in the middle of the night yesterday, I ranted endlessly about how these people from event staffing companies are nothing but a bunch of pimps ripping off not only the staff he or she is providing for an event, but also the event producers that are paying for the staff. I won’t get into it again. I only bring it up to clarify — when I’m talking about moving quickly on a booking offer or availability check, I am NOT talking about offers from these event staffing scammers; I’m referring to TV/film gigs, and really, commercials, where talent is taken care of and compensated fairly. Oh yeah, I didn’t tell y’all, I was randomly Upgraded on a commercial job for the first time; I went from a background extra, how I was booked, to an On-Camera Principal. This means that I’m going to get a cute lil’ check in the mail for the difference between the background extra rate that I was paid and the On-Camera Principal minimum rate set by the professional actors’ union. Whoah! [smiling reminiscently]. Ain’t God good?! Lord Jesus, PLEASE, see fit for me to get more, actually start booking, On-Camera Principle roles so I never have to accept a rip off from an event staffing agency person again!!!)

Ou, child, now these folks close in ‘bout 15 minutes. Let me get out of here.

Really quickly, to finish what I started to say up above..

I went from checking my emails for availability checks to noticing a missed call from my best guy friend, Calvin, calling him back and staying on the phone for an hour, to looking at return flights from Sint Marteen, where me, Rashan and Raven are going in a couple of weeks, to receiving a callback from Rashan’s twin sister, Rashell, and staying on the phone with her for what, an hour and a half?! And just that fast, the day is gone.

I know I didn’t get to the part about how nice this plant-based cafe in Mid City Los Angeles is, but it’s called GreenTable. Maybe I’ll say more about it another day… Or, I’ll start and get on a rant about something else. Who’s to say?!

aroundwithTK is where I’m figuring it out along the way. Writers typically have readers, but once you’re here, I consider you a rider. Thank you for coming along and I hope you’ll stick AROUND.
